Elusive Faith

Many published writers have weighed in since my entry yesterday and every single one of them said sort of the same thing in response to my idea that published writers must have an easier time keeping the faith. In essence, their response was “nope.”

As my spiritual guru Marianne Williamson says “The top of one hill is the bottom of a bigger mountain.” This quote seems particularly apt for writers.

Once you’re published, there’s the pressure to continue to publish. The pressure to make the best seller list. The pressure of deadlines. The pressure from critics. The financial pressure. All of these pressures weigh on the published writer, making faith as ellusive for them as it is for those of us who still haven’t got a book with our name on the spine.
