I tried to spiff up the website I have on WordPress.com, cynthiaharrison.blog, which is really just my blog archives and ongoing posts.
I had previously moved my website/blog to PubSite (cynthiaharrison.com) as my friend told me it was much easier to update. (It’s not. But the design is so nice.)
Because PubSite could not accomodate the volume of my blog posts, I parked the blog archives here and hired a freelancer to make it like my website. They used Dara and did their best, but I just didn’t like the slider. At all. My son, who is an IT professional, built the first of several cynthiaharrison.com iterations. (I chose the wallpaper. It was a gray background with pink flowers) coded.
He coded everything at first but he taught me a little code, like image tags and pictures for my posts. Then he found Movable Type, TypePad and finally WordPress. After ten years, I took over most of the upkeep because it was fairly easy and he had a job, wife, and children.
When I wrote a new post, it went out to the 900 or so people who followed me. It posted on Facebook where I have an author page. It’s less than 900 now. People say I should have a newsletter but anything a newsletter can do, my blog can do better. I also use the WordPress.com Reader and have met some great people. My community is very small but that is okay.
My background is a published writer of fiction and non-fiction and my first book was one I wrote and used in my community college writing classes. Did I say I don’t want AO to edit or write my text? I like AI and it is useful for some things. Very useful. But I’m the writer on this page.
