Code Naked

My very first post (a true story) for “The Moms” went up at 50-Something yesterday. I call them “The Moms” because the site (and it’s many sister sites) was started by three moms. Now these intrepid women host Mom blogs in a lot of cities, in addition to some interest-specific blogs, like 50-Something.

Does the reason I love the blog have anything to do with adoring thirtysomething, and being the corret age to remember it? I was 32 when thirtysomething started and it spoke to me on so many levels, just like I’m connecting to 50-Something now. I’m pretty sure it was the name that first drew me in. Titles are important, maybe more to writers than other people. How they resonant can mean the difference between clicking on or passing by a website or TV show.

I confess that getting the post up was not without its own little drama. Even though I used Movable Type for years here on AWD, I didn’t get my code for the links right. I had the proper html, but it didn’t work for some reason. Neither did the little chainlink icon like I have on Word Press. So my post went up with all the html naked right there. I felt as naked as my code.

Also for some reason, my bio was in the middle of the post instead of at the end. I am not sure how that happened, but when I saw it I freaked. Luckily, one of the Moms called me yesterday for a different reason and I was able to alert her to the problem. She fixed it right then and gave me some tips on how to make sure my links are viable before my next post.

I’ve already got an idea and some notes…
