Touchstone

Today is one of my busy days of the season. School this morning, a sort of scary appointment with a medical professional after work, and then my book group’s holiday dinner tonight. It will be one thing after another with very little down time. And still, I found an hour to work on the WIP this morning, revising the second scene and jotting a few pages of notes about future plot developments.

In this busy time of year, I need my writing more than ever. It is like a touchstone that grounds me and makes me feel safe and content when everything else is swirling in the mad dance of Christmas.

I love the line, “the mad dance of Christmas…” You have such a beautiful and wistful way of putting things, Cindy. Writing does ground us, and with that in mind, I’ve started keeping a journal — a real journal in which I write by hand. It is so different from the writing I do on the keyboard, where I automatically edit myself. Even when I try not to!

I hope that medical appointment turns out OK — and that it isn’t an indication of something seriously wrong. Keep me posted. Enjoy that book dinner with your group. Friends are such a comfort, too.

    Hope all works out.
