Going Indie?

One blog I have read for years and years is Argh Ink. Jennifer Crusie taught me how to write a novel, and I’ve never forgotten her, since that first intensive workshop in Yellow Springs to the writing manual she wrote as a blog with Bob Mayer. She has not published a novel for awhile. But I love her blog and the hundreds of comments.

Plus sometimes, Jenny drops big news. Like the fact that she and Bob, her sometimes collaborator, have finished a three book series and they are going indie with it! They were offered a traditional contract for mid-2024, but that’s too long to wait. So they decided what the heck, let’s do this. Exciting. Brave. I would do it except I do not have a Bob to handle the technical stuff. Plus I love my editor.

So even though so many of my Sisters in Crime are indie published and love it, and make money at it, I am not quite yet going indie. Maybe someday when my grandsons grow up and need a summer job. It won’t be that long!!

*BTW up top is a cover photo for Blue Heaven, a novel I wrote…seems a long time ago! I was looking for a photo of Jenny and me but it’s buried too deep so this photo IMO conveyed the idea of somebody breaking free of tradition.

Formatting a book for publication is definitely a challenge!
